Few Common Car Problems

It is very important to regularly maintain your vehicle. But, what is equally important is to visit the auto car repair shop every time you notice that something is wrong with your car. These are some of the most common car problems.

Faults in the electrical power system

Contact – If during the turning of the key in the ignition lock, the starter doesn’t turn on the engine and the light indicators on the panel don’t suggest any problems the problem may be located in the ignition or starter.
Battery – If the control indicators for oil pressure and power generator are turned on in the moment you place the key in the ignition lock or they are emitting light with a lower intensity, the fault can probably be located at the battery terminals or insufficient battery charge.

Cables – The first thing that you should check when it comes to cables is whether they have a good connection to the terminals, induction coil and spark plugs. If the connections aren’t good (they appear to be greasy or burnt) they you should use a clean cloth to remove the impurities. After that, use a fine sandpaper to clean the joints.
Ignition distributor – If the starter turns on the engine and the engine doesn’t start, the fault should be located in the ignition distributor or at the ignition cap, ignition coils or condensers.

Faults in the fuel system

Fuel should be transferred from the fuel tank through the pipes and fuel pumps to the carburetor. This is place where the fuel is mixed with a certain amount of air and powers the engine. If the electric ignition devices used for fuel mixing are working properly, the fault should be sought in the fuel pipeline, fuel pump or carburetor.

Faults in the engine

The engine stops working – If the engine stops working in idle position, the possible causes are: clogged idle nozzles, improperly adjusted mixture for engine idling, the air intake at the junction of the carburetor and the spacer in the intake system, faulty contact in the connections between electrical installations, greasy or dirty spark plugs or excessive clearance on the spark plug electrodes.

The engine works intermittently – If the engine works intermittently at higher rpm, the possible causes are: blocked main nozzle for fuel supply to the carburetor, bad contact in the connections between electrical installations used for burning the fuel mixture, dirty, defective or greasy spark plug or a large gap on the electrodes and faulty membrane in the fuel pumps.
Engine overheats – In this case some of the possible causes are: loosen or ripped belt that drives the fan, defective thermostat, faulty electric fan, greased or dirty cooler, and loss of fluid in the cooling system, faulty thermostat, insufficient quantity of oil in the engine, unregulated spark-ignition.

The engine consumes more oil – The engine uses more oil in these cases: when the oil is leaking and when the piston rings are worn. The cause of the loss of oil are worn or loosen gaskets between the block and engine head, valve cover, crankcase and cylinder block as well as oil draining from the crankcase.
